The 2023 release of Martingale Cognac marks a very important milestone for the Thomas family as they launch their first ever proprietary bottling despite their century-long history of making the finest Cognac. The unique style of the liquid and bottle are both testament to Raymond Thomas–grandfather of founders Guillaume and Amaury, who had an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit, which lives on in his grandsons. Martingale is fresh and fragrant, delivering a scintillating and unexpected drinking experience.
Our grandfather, Raymond, was a restless visionary and true entrepreneur.
He was an important figure in the history of Cognac having strengthened the status of the appellation through the post-war era. When faced with obstacles, instead of backing down, he doubled down and found his own martingale, his own recipe for success: hard work, genuine relationships, skills, and craft in Cognac making.

Rich history meets bright future
Built and owned by the Bremond d’Ars family until 1880, Chateau d’Ars is an enchanting property built in the 17th century, located a few short miles to the southwest of Cognac. It has been the home of the Thomas family for three generations and is now the spiritual home of Martingale Cognac.
